Bridging the Gap-II

Inspired by the Bixby bridge in Big Sur, california, this painting shows the famous concrete bridge precariosly sitting on top of two high cliffs, with the blue-green pacific ocean on one side, and the bixby creek running in between the two cliffs. This is a very large painting, 36 in X48 in. on a gallery canvas (1.5in stretcher bars), with the sturdy wood frame, with cross braces. The staple free edges are painted, so the painting is ready to hang. The canvas is heavy duty, acid free gesso primed, and medium textured. The paints used are fine studio quality.
The Bixby bridge is one of the highest (120 ft.), single span bridges in the world. The simple elegance with which it sits on top of the cliffs, it feels like a natural inhabitant of the beautiful surroundings. This bridge made possible automobile travel between Monterey and Big Sur.
